David Winning is an actor living in New York City. After graduating from high school, he spent a year traveling around the world, performing with an international cast as part of Up With People. Originally from Virginia, David studied psychology and education at VCU (Richmond, VA), earning a Master’s degree in teaching. He taught elementary students for 5 years before choosing to be a stay-at-home dad with the birth of his daughter in 2002. While performing the role of stay-at-home dad, he began auditioning for some local theater shows and worked his way up to lead roles, including Christian de Neuvillette in Cyrano de Bergerac and Jerry Lewkowski in The Full Monty.
Although David loved the energy of live theater, he was eager to explore the realm of film. He auditioned for and landed several independent film roles, including his lead role in the feature film Liar's Pendulum. He recently finished portraying the role of naval Captain Mike Stewart for a Japanese-produced WWII film, Manatsu no Orion (2009), and the role of a construction site owner (Steve) for the Bollywood feature film New York (2009 - Yash Raj Films).
In addition to his film and theater work, David has appeared in a variety of national and regional commercials, including Unisom, Saladworks, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
